Department of physics
The Department of Physics was established in the academic year 1991-92 with mathematics and chemistry as allied combinations and Restructured course was started with group combinations of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science 1991-92.. The medium of instruction for Mathematics, Physics and chemistry combination is Telugu, while Mathematics, Physics and Computer science combination is in English. In the year 2020 the MPC combination closed due lack of admissions
Vision
Excel in producing and disseminating scientific knowledge, foster in students a culture of inquiry, intellectual exploration, and care for one another and the environment
Mission
To teach its students about the wonder and majesty of the field of physics, its linkages to other fields, and its enormous potential to improve people’s lives. To improve their capacity for producing new knowledge and communicating it, as well as to instill in them a scientific mindset and a feeling of civic duty. To carry out excellent research that will uncover new scientific facts and use them for the benefit of the greater living world.

STRENGTHS OF DEPARTMENT
Ø Experienced and Qualified Faculty: Important strength of physics department is its faculty. Physics department have experienced and qualified faculty members who are passionate about teaching and research. The faculty should have diverse backgrounds and expertise in different subfields of physics, including classical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, and more.
Ø Well-Equipped Laboratories: The Physics department have well-equipped labs that allow students to conduct experiments and gain hands-on experience with the principles they learn in class. The labs are equipped with modern and up-to-date equipment, and the faculty have a robust safety protocol in place to ensure that students can conduct experiments safely.
Ø Interdisciplinary Connections: Physics is a highly interdisciplinary field, and physics department have connections with other departments and programs on campus. This can include joint projects with departments like Mathematics, and Computer science.
Ø Outreach and Community Engagement: Finally, physics department actively engaged with the broader community. This can include organizing outreach events for local schools, participating in science fairs and festivals.. Community engagement helps to promote science literacy and inspire the next generation of scientists and researchers.
Overall, physics department provide a comprehensive and well-rounded
Education that prepares students for success in both academia and industry.

Best Practices
- Environment Consciousness: The department has a system for green-auditing of its facilities which is carried out informally by the STUDENTS. The use of plastic bags is avoided in department “No Plastic Zone”. Students and staff are motivated to use jute bags or cotton bags. The students and staff have participated in various tree plantation programmes
- No Tobacco Zone: Care is taken to ensure that the college environment has low levels of carbon emission and low pollution levels so that the campus is healthy for all. The department is declared as ‘No Tobacco Zone’. This is to make the campus eco-friendly.
- Energy conservation: The department conducts awareness programmes on energy conservation and adopts measures to ensure that energy is conserved wherever possible. The department follows a policy of switching on power only when required and switching off when not in use.
